Use extreme caution when using oils with children and be sure to first read the recommended dilution ratios for children. In addition to general precautions for use, we provide specific precautions in our essential oil profiles. In order to acquire our oil-specific precautions, we consult Essential Oil Safety, 2nd Edition by Robert Tisserand and Rodney Young, which is widely regarded as the industry standard for essential oil safety. We also suggest that you conduct a comprehensive investigation of a particular essential oil or consult with a licensed aromatherapist, naturopath, or qualified healthcare practitioner to ensure that it is suitable for your intended use prior to its application.

Despite the fact that unadulterated essential oils are composed solely of naturally occurring plant compounds, the concentrations of these organic chemicals are sufficiently high to qualify them as hazardous waste. Essential oils should not be disposed of in the trash or flushed down the sewer. Essential oils that are no longer suitable for aromatherapy can be incorporated into natural DIY cleaning formulations (in appropriately diluted quantities) or a passive oil diffuser, which enables them to disseminate gradually into the atmosphere.
